THE BRIEF

A cinematic confrontation between a geisha and a ninja: elegance, tension and action in a visually controlled Japanese setting, with strong character identity throughout. The original concept: a geisha standing still on a rock in a flowering meadow, cherry blossoms and pink petals all around; the ninja strikes, she turns and answers with a flying kick.

APPROACH

Two characters built as opposites. The geisha: costume, face, posture and controlled elegance. The ninja: a darker silhouette, physical presence and a contrasting movement language. Environment, storyboard and choreography were then designed around this opposition: approach, attack, reaction, flying kick.

PROBLEM

Character identity — keeping both faces, costumes and silhouettes consistent across every shot.
Costume continuity — kimono details and the ninja's outfit had to stay identical through movement and camera changes.
Action — readable movement in the transition from stillness to combat, where generative video tends to blur bodies and poses.
Model restrictions — the most advanced models refuse to generate characters that read as real people.

SOLUTION

Characters developed as distinct visual identities before any motion. Framing, poses and choreography refined shot by shot through the storyboard, keeping identity, costume and movement readable from the first frame to the flying kick. The characters were first designed in a digital style to pass model restrictions, then steered back to ultra-realistic output through targeted prompting, despite non-realistic references.

RESULT

A complete action sequence where elegance and violence share the same frame: two characters, one environment, one continuous choreography.
